Application Areas: 2101 duplex steel is an ideal choice for scenarios demanding both strength and corrosion resistance: Structural Engineering: Bridges, building curtain walls, concrete reinforcement (replacing carbon steel, significantly extending service life). Transportation: Containers, tankers, railway freight wagons, truck structural components. Energy and Chemical Industry: Pressure vessels, piping systems, heat exchangers (for mildly corrosive media). Water and Environmental Protection: Water treatment equipment, low-pressure seawater desalination systems, sewage treatment plant components. Paper Industry: Pulp conveying equipment.

2101 duplex steel (commercially known as LDX 2101®) is an economical duplex stainless steel characterised by low nickel, high manganese, and high nitrogen content. Its microstructure comprises approximately 50% ferrite and 50% austenite, combining the advantages of both: the strength of ferritic steel with the toughness and corrosion resistance of austenitic steel. Core Characteristics: High Strength and Hardness: Its yield strength is nearly double that of standard 304 or 316 austenitic stainless steels, permitting reduced wall thicknesses in design for weight reduction and cost savings. Outstanding Resistance to Stress Corrosion Cracking: Among all stainless steels, duplex grades exhibit exceptional resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC), a core advantage inherited by 2101. Superior Corrosion Resistance: Demonstrates better corrosion resistance than 304 stainless steel and approaches the level of 316 stainless steel, particularly excelling in chloride-containing environments. Superior wear resistance and fatigue strength: High strength and hardness deliver enhanced wear resistance and fatigue performance. Cost-effectiveness: Partial substitution of nickel (Ni) with manganese (Mn) and nitrogen (N) minimises raw material cost volatility linked to nickel prices, offering significant economic benefits.
